SECTION 3
Lesson 3.2: Using CrossTab Queries

To manually design a CrossTab Query, first switch to the Query section of the database window. Then, choose Create a query in design view.

Right now, Access doesn’t know what type of query you want to create, so it will ask you what tables and queries you want to use.

Once you add tables and/or queries and click Close, you will see the usual Query design view. Now, it’s time to tell Access that you want to create a special query. Click the Query menu and click CrossTab query.

Now, your fields will change to allow you to create a CrossTab query. We’re not going to walk though each of the steps as the options are almost limitless. We do suggest, however, that you use the CrossTab query wizard until you’re comfortable with its options. Then, you can use the design mode to create even more powerful queries!
