Lesson 1.3: Getting Help

   

 

The Help menu in Access provides you with everything you need to get help. Let’s quickly go over the contents of the Help menu:

 

Microsoft Office Access Help

This will open the Task Pane to the Help page and enable you to search for a topic and connect to the Internet to use Microsoft Office Online.

Show the Office Assistant

Clicking this option will enable the Office Assistant.

 

Microsoft Office Online

This will launch your default Internet browser and visit the Office Online Web site. Here you can find out about new Office features, read tutorials, and browse through frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) about Microsoft Office.

Access Developer Resources

This option will also visit the Microsoft Office Online Web site to provide help and resources for database administrators and IT professionals.

Contact Us

This tool connects you Microsoft Office Online for contact information about Microsoft.

Sample Databases

Access features a complete sample database showing off the many features and options available to you.

Check for Updates

This feature will connect to the Internet and browse Microsoft’s web site for any product updates. Updates help keep your computer and data safer by fixing possible security holes.

Detect and Repair

This feature is used to attempt to find and fix problems with Access. This option should only be used by IT professionals; contact your system administrator or Microsoft if you think your version of Access has become damaged.

Activate Product

Allows you to enter personal information to register Access.

Customer Feedback Options

This feature lets you participate in a behind-the-curtain survey which sends information to Microsoft anonymously about how you use Access and its features. You can also specify if you would like Access to provide new online content about Access and related Office products.
