The Zoom Toolbar is used to view reports in your database. (To refresh your memory, a report is used to show the results of a query. For example, you could ask the database, “Which of my employees work in New York?” and then use a report to see the data.) This toolbar is particularly useful when reviewing a report before you print it, too. When you are viewing a report, the Zoom Toolbar is located by default at the top of the Access window:

 

 

Let’s take a look at the commands in the toolbar from left to right:

View

 

Allows you to switch between Design View and Page Preview.

Print

 

Prints the entire report using the default printer on your computer.

Zoom

 

Click this icon and then click the report print preview to switch between fit-to-window view and 100% full size.

Page Buttons

(One, Two, Multiple)

 

Lets you view a single page at a time, two pages at a time, or up to six pages at a time.

Zoom Level

 

Click the pull-down arrow to zoom the preview from 25% to 1000% of its full size.

Close

 

Closes the report print preview.

Setup

 

Opens the Page Setup dialog box (described in Lesson 2.2).

OfficeLinks

 

This link lets you merge this report with a current Microsoft Word document, publish the document to a new Microsoft Word document, or put the data from the report into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

Database Window

 

This button will bring the Database window to the foreground.

New Object

 

This link lets you create a new database object.

Help

 

Opens the Access help file.
