Lesson 3.3: Reports

   

 

 

You will make a report using the Wizard and then customize it using Design view.

1.                   

Open Microsoft Access 2003.

Click Help à Sample Databases à Northwind Sample Database.

Click the Reports object in the Database window, and then double-click Create report by using Wizard.

 

From the Tables/Queries combo box, select Query: Alphabetical List of Products. Use the (>) button to transfer ProductName, UnitPrice, UnitsInStock, and CategoryName.

Click Next.

Click by Categories in the next page to have Access arrange the data per each type of product sold:

 

 

Click Next.

 

 

4.                   

Add a grouping to the report by clicking the UnitPrice item in the list and clicking the > button:

 

 

Click Next.

 

 

5.                   

Click the pull-down arrow beside combo box #1 and select ProductName from the list. Click Next.

 

Select Block from the Layout options and Landscape from the Orientation options.

 

Uncheck the Adjust the field width so all fields will fit on a page option and click Next.

 

 

 

6.                   

Pick the Casual style from the list on the next page and click Next.

 

At the final screen of the Wizard, name the report Categorized Product List, select the Modify the report’s design radio button, and then click Finish.

 

 

 

7.                   

The report will open in Design view.

 

Click the big Categorized Products List at the top of the design view to select it and then type Northwind Product List.

In the Detail section of Design view, click the Category Name label and click the Bold tool at the top of the Access window. Do the same for the Unit Price label.

 

Your screen should look like this:

 

 

 

8.                   

Click View à Print Preview to see your report.

 

 

 

9.                   

Save your report and close Microsoft Access 2003.
