Lesson 1.1: Using My Computer Within Access

   

 

In this exercise you will make a blank database, then make a new folder and add it to your My Places toolbar.

1.                   

Click Start à All Programs à Microsoft Office à Microsoft Office Access 2003.

 

 

2.                   

Click Create a new file in the Getting Started page of the Task Pane.

Click Blank database from the New File page of the Task Pane:

 

 

 

3.                   

When the File New Database dialogue box (aka My Computer dialogue box) appears, click the My Documents button in the My Places toolbar:

 

 

 

4.                   

Click the New Folder button () in the dialogue box and name it My Database.

Click OK.

 

 

5.                   

At the bottom of the File New Database dialogue box, click in the text box beside File name: and type My Sample Database. Click the Create button.

 

 

 

6.                   

A new window will appear in Access, the My Sample Database window. We will use this database and the Northwind sample database to experiment with as we progress through this manual.
