Lesson 1.3: Saving Your Files

   

 

 

In this exercise you will practice saving a table as different objects and adjust the properties of each new object you create.

1.                   

Open the Northwind Sample Database by clicking Help à Sample Databases à Northwind Sample Database.

 

 

 

2.                   

Click the Tables object in the database window. Click the Products table once to highlight it and then click File à Save As…

 

 

 

3.                   

Select Form from the list of Save As options and click OK.

 

 

 

4.                   

Browse through the new form that was generated and then close it.

Repeat steps 2 and 3, only select Report from the list of Save As options.

 

 

5.                   

Browse through the new report that was generated and then close it.

The form that was generated contained a table that listed order details for each particular product.

The Report that was generated was a full product list for all products.

 

 

6.                   

Click the Forms object in the Database window, click Copy of Products to select the form, and then click the Properties button () on the Database toolbar at the top of the Access window.

Type “This form is a listing of all products and the order history of each product.” in the Description field of the Properties window:

 

 

Click OK to save the description.

 

 

7.                   

Click the Reports object in the Database window and open the properties of the Copy of Products report.

Type “This is a listing of all products carried by Northwind.” and then click OK.

 

 

8.                   

Close Microsoft Access 2003.
