The Field Description fields are located on the right side of Table Design view. The fields are optional, though they are useful when several people are involved in constructing a database. You can leave a little note explaining a field’s function or why a certain field exists. Anything written here is also displayed in the Status Bar of a form:

 

 

You can type whatever you like in a field description, just as long as the description is less than 255 characters.
