Lesson 3.3: Formatting A Form

   

 

 

In this exercise you will practice formatting a form.

1.                   

Open Lesson 3.3 from the Section 3 folder of your Exercise Files.

 

 

 

2.                   

Open the Vehicles form in Design View.

Double-click the Form selector box (in the upper left-hand corner of the window to open the form Properties.

 

 

Under the Format tab, change the Grid X and Grid Y fields each to 8. This will lay a 1/8th inch grid across the entire form.

 

 

3.                   

Click a Text Box in the form and apply a new font, font colour, style, and background colour.

 

(In the picture below, the font is Lucida Sans, the colour is grey, the style is bold + italic, and the background colour is yellow.)

 

 

 

4.                   

With the Text Box still selected, double-click the Format Painter icon in the Form Design toolbar.

Click each text box in the form to apply the formatting to each one:

 

 

Click the Format Painter once more to turn off its functionality.

 

 

5.                   

Maximize the form window.

Move your mouse to the right side of the form and click and drag to expand the form to the right:

 

 

 

6.                   

Click the Image button in the Toolbox, and then click and drag about a 2” square box:

 

 

 

7.                   

When prompted to pick a graphic file, browse to the Section 3 folder of your Exercise Files and then insert the image named clip art.

Double-click the image of the car to open the Properties of the image. Under the Format tab, select Stretch as the Size Mode:

 

 

 

8.                   

Click View à Form View to preview the form:

 

 

 

9.                   

Save your work and close Microsoft Access 2003.
