Lesson 1.1: Introduction

   

 

 

 

 

Excel 2003 has all the functionality of earlier versions, plus a few new extras.

 

·              With Excel 2003 you can compare Workbooks side by side with simultaneous horizontal and vertical scrolling.

·               Improvements to many of the statistical functions have increased precision and calculation speed.

·              Support for XML (Extensible Markup Language) provides a standardized way of presenting data for exchange with other programs.

·              Document Workspaces allow several people to share, edit, and review the same document, with changes being saved to a shared workspace.

·              Information Rights Management makes it possible to set expiration dates on data, and to grant or restrict users’ read and write privileges.

·              New list features allow you to designate a range as a list with an enhanced border, user interface, and more functionality.

·              Smart Documents can be made context sensitive, and can interact with databases and other office programs making information sharing and reuse more efficient.

 

In addition to these new Excel features, Excel 2003 has benefited from the following changes made to all the Microsoft Office applications.

·              Better integration with the Microsoft Office Online web site

·              A new look

·              Support for Tablet PC’s that enables you to provide input in your own hand writing
