There are three main ways to find help in Excel, namely, the Help Menu, the Task Pane, and the Office Assistant. To display the Help Menu, click the Help menu on the menu bar near the top of the Excel screen, or press the Alt + H keys.

The list of items on the Help Menu will contain an option labelled Microsoft Excel Help. Clicking this option will open the Help Task Pane, seen in the below picture.

Farther down on the Help Menu, is an option labelled Show the Office Assistant. Clicking this option will display the office assistant. (This option may also be labelled Hide the Office Assistant if the office assistant is already visible).

There is also an option labelled Microsoft Office Online. If you have an internet connection, clicking this option will open a browser window to the Microsoft Office web site.
