SECTION 1
Lesson 1.2: Help with Excel

In this exercise you will learn how to change the office assistant

1.

If the Office assistant is not visible, select the help menu and left click on the Show Office Assistant Option.

2.

Once you see the Office Assistant, right click on it to display the options menu.

Left click on the word Options on the menu to display the Office Assistant dialogue box.

3.

This dialogue box gives you some choice as to how the Assistant will help you.

By checking or un-checking the boxes, you can choose what kind of help and tips the assistant will provide. If you click the Reset my tips button, the assistant will once again show you tips that may have already seen. You can also choose to have the office assistant make sounds, move aside when it gets in the way, display alerts (warnings or instructions), or provide tips on keyboard short cuts.

4.

If you click the Gallery tab in the upper left of the Dialogue box, options to change the appearance of the assistant will be displayed.

You can now click the Next or Back button To view all the different Office Assistant characters that are available to you. Try scrolling through the characters until you find F1 the robot.

If you click the OK button, this character will now be your Office Assistant.

You can change your Office Assistant’s options and appearance as frequently as you like. If you ever want to reconfigure the assistant, just follow the steps in this practice exercise.
