By default, the standard toolbar is positioned near the top of the Excel screen and looks like the image above. Toolbars can be repositioned and customized, so if you are working with an installation of Excel 2003 that has been used by someone else, the position and look of the tool bar could be different from the one that is shown.

 

The standard toolbar consists of a series of buttons that enable you to directly perform Excel tasks. Each button contains a small image that visually implies the button’s function. The following list briefly describes some of the buttons (from left to right) on the toolbar shown above.

 

If you move your mouse pointer to a toolbar button and let it hover for a moment, a small comment box will appear and give you a clue about what the function does. Try it.
