Lesson 1.3: Beginning Excel

   

 

 

As you probably already know, Excel offers a number of options or methods to perform a given task. One way to speed up certain tasks is to use Excel’s short-cut keys. Short-cut Keys are key combinations that allow you to quickly execute a task or function, without having to use Excel’s menus or repeat other keystrokes at length. There are quite a few keyboard shortcuts available in Excel 2003. Here are a few useful ones.

 

For moving in a worksheet

 

Ctrl + Home

Move to the top left cell of a worksheet

Ctrl + End

Move to the bottom right cell in the used area of a worksheet

Page Down

Move down one screen

Page up

Move up one screen

Alt + Page Down

Move right one screen

Alt + Page Up

Move left one screen

Ctrl + Left Arrow

Move to the beginning of data in a row

Ctrl + Right Arrow

Move to the end of data in a row

Ctrl + Down Arrow

Move to the bottom of data in a column

Ctrl + Up Arrow

Move to the top of data in a column

Ctrl + G

Show Go To dialogue box

 

 

Data manipulation and editing

 

Ctrl + A

Select all (entire block of data)

Ctrl + C

Copy  selected cells

Ctrl + F

Find

Replace
