Open Excel
2003 by double clicking the Excel icon or by using the
Start
menu. Start->Programs->Microsoft
Office->Microsoft Office
Excel 2003

When the
Excel Screen opens, left click the new workbook button on the
standard toolbar.

You should
now have a workbook with the name Book2 in the title bar.

Click on the
rectangle (cell) in the upper left of the data (grid) area, so
that it is enhanced with a black border. Type the number
2000 and press enter.

You should
see the cell immediately beneath the number 2000 enhanced with a
black border. Type 3000 and press
enter. Next enter 4000 and
5000 in the same way.

The
resulting worksheet should look like this. |

Make sure
the cell immediately below the number 5000 has an enhanced
border (click on it if you have to) and click on the auto sum
button on the standard toolbar.

Your screen
should look like this image. Press Enter
to calculate the sum. |

Now
choose the file menu and select the Save As option,
File->Save As.

The Save
As dialogue box should appear. |

When you see
the Save As dialogue box, Browse to the folder that you
want to save your file to, (Excel 2003 Practice) and type
Simple sum in the file name:
text field.
 
Click the
Save button to save this workbook with the name Simple sum.
