SECTION 1
Lesson 1.5: Explore your Workbook

The next step in learning Excel 2003 is getting familiar with the concept of workbooks and worksheets. Put simply, a worksheet is an array of data cells that can hold text, numerical values, and formulas. A workbook is just a collection of one or more worksheets grouped together as one file. Excel will calculate the results of formulas in a worksheet, based on the data that you enter. If you enter new data, the values in a worksheet will be recalculated. This makes a worksheet (often called a spreadsheet) a great tool for organizing and analyzing data.

In this lesson, you will learn how to switch between worksheets in a workbook, how to select cells in a worksheet, how to move around in a worksheet, and how to use the active cell.
