Lesson 3.2: Excel Form Controls

   

 

 

If you choose View->Toolbars from the data menu, and put a check next to the Forms option on the toolbar list, the Forms toolbar will appear on the Excel screen. You can drag and drop the forms toolbar to a location of your choice by clicking and holding your left mouse button on an empty area of the blue band at the top of the toolbar.

 

 

If you let your mouse pointer hover over the buttons on the toolbar, a small comment box will appear with a term or phrase describing the button’s function.

 

 

 

 

The drop list at the top of the Forms toolbar (downward triangle) will display options for customizing the toolbar, (changing and arranging the buttons that are contained on the toolbar). Like the other toolbars in Excel 2003, the forms toolbar can be hidden, relocated, docked, and customized as you see fit.

 

The buttons on the forms toolbar represent the controls that you can add to a worksheet. There is also a properties button that allows you to modify and manage a given control. Some of the more frequently used buttons and controls are:

 

The Forms toolbar is best described as a simple and direct platform for adding basic form controls to an Excel worksheet.

 

The label control allows you to add a text label to a worksheet.

The button control allows you to add a button which can be assigned to a macro.

The check box control allows a user to make selections based on true or false values.

The radio button control can enable a selection from mutually exclusive items.

The list box control can provide options based on worksheet data.

The combo box control can provide options based on worksheet data.

The scroll bar control allows you to add a scroll through a data selection

The spinner control allows you to increment or decrement a numeric value for input.

The properties button permits you to modify the properties of a given form control.
