The first time you try to set permissions on a new mail message, you will be prompted for credentials. Currently, Microsoft is offering this as a free trial service. Here’s the first window in the sign-up wizard. It provides some vital information about using Information Rights Management. Again, this screen may be different from what you see as this is currently a trial service:

 

 

Just click the Yes radio button and click Next. Then, you will have to sign in using your Microsoft .NET Passport; if you don’t have one you will have to create one.

 

The last set of options offers you the choice to create a permanent certificate or just a temporary one. As this is currently a free service, we recommend that you ask for a permanent certificate.
