SECTION 1
Lesson 1.3: Using Menus

Now that we’ve learned all about menus, shortcuts, and dialog boxes, let’s put all that knowledge into practice to customize Outlook even further!

1.

In the main menu, click on Tools and choose Options.

2.

In the Preferences tab (which will automatically be selected), click E-mail Options.

3.

The first option in this new dialog box will be “After moving or deleting an open item.” Click the drop-down arrow and click Open the next item.

4.

Next, check the box at the bottom that says, “Mark my comments with.” In the box below this, type your name.

5.

Click OK. This will take you back to Options. Click OK again to save your changes.

6.

Now, let’s modify the main menu. Press Ctrl and 1 to go back to the mail view. Then, click on Tools and click Customize.

7.

In the Customize window, click the Commands tab. Click the Go item under categories; then under Commands, scroll down until you find My Documents.

8.

Drag and drop the My Documents icon to the main menu. Then close the Customize window.
