SECTION 2
Lesson 2.4: Customizing E-Mail Messages

Stationery in Outlook is the same as paper stationery: it provides a background for you to type your mail message on. Here’s an example of a new message that is using Clear Day stationery:

You must be using HTML format to use stationery. Also, you should set your stationery either before you open a new message or as soon as you open it. Both methods are described below.

To Choose Stationery From Options:

1)    In the main Outlook window, click on the Tools menu and click Options.

2)    Click on the Mail Format tab.

3)    In the Stationery and Fonts section, pick your font from the drop-down menu.

4)    If you want to see what the different fonts look like, click on the Stationery Picker button. A new box will appear. You can pick your stationery from this window, click OK, and it will put your choice in the drop-down box.

5)    Click Apply and OK; your stationery will now be applied to all new messages.

To Choose Stationery From a New Mail Message

1)    Open a new mail message.

2)    Click the options arrow (▼) next to the Options button on the Standard Toolbar.

3)    Click Stationery.

4)    In the new window, click the first button (labelled Theme).

5)    You can choose either a theme (which has fonts, special bullets and numbers, and other special formatting, as well as a background) or stationery, which is just a background.

6)    Click OK and then OK again.

7)    Close your mail message and re-open it.

With either of these methods, you have set your default stationery! Congratulations!
