SECTION 3
Lesson 3.3: Using Tasks

There a few important things to remember about views in the main tasks window.

1.    This is the radio list of views. Just click on any item to change your view.

2.    Click on these columns to sort by the item listed. For example, to sort tasks by subject, just click on the Subject title.

3.    A quick way to create a new task; just type here and hit enter.

4.    This is where all your tasks are listed.

5.    See this column with the checkboxes? Just put a check in the box to mark the task as complete.

You’ll see lots of different views listed in the navigation pane (item 1 in the figure above). By default, Outlook loads the Simple List view. Here’s an example of the detailed list view:

The same rules still apply; you can still use the Navigation Pane to change your view, use checkboxes to mark tasks as done, and use column headers to sort tasks.

Last but not least, the task folder has an AutoPreview option. If you right-click on a blank spot on the Tasks screen and click AutoPreview, you’ll see that your tasks view will change. An extra three lines will be added underneath Subject to give you a preview of the task’s details (the information you typed in the large white box). This is a good way to quickly get a more detailed look at all your tasks without opening them each up.
