One of the biggest advantages to using Microsoft Project Professional 2003 is the ability to connect with Microsoft Project Server 2003. This server acts as a central repository for resources, project files, and other components needed to plan and execute projects. It also provides the following tools:

 

  • Ability to model projects and resources across many projects to ensure consistency

  •  Better security to control who views and updates each project

  •  More advanced reporting abilities

  • Ability to standardize processes to ensure more consistent and accurate data

  • Ability to standardize views

  • Risk management capabilities (new for 2003)

  • Ability to manage projects from different versions and maintain consistency (new for 2003)

  • Support for various versions of a project

  • Better integration with Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

  • Includes Project Web Access, which allows managers to easily inform team members about new task assignments, schedule changes, risks, issues, and other key information.
