Lesson 2.4: Embedding Objects

   

 

This lesson will begin by creating a new embedded object from the publication. Next, we will embed part of a file, and we will finish the lesson by embedding an entire file. We will be using a Lesson 2.5 as well as the Worksheet from the last lesson.

 

Begin by opening Lesson 2.5 and the Excel Worksheet.

 

1.

In the blank publication, select Insert Object.

Select Microsoft Excel Chart.

 

 

 

3.

Select OK.

 

 

4.

Create your document.

 

 

 

 

5.

Click outside the box when document is complete.

Next we will embed part of a file. Open the Excel Worksheet and highlight Rows 3, 4 and 5.

Select Copy from the Standard Toolbar.

Open Lesson 2.5, go to the Edit menu, and click Paste Special.

Select New Table from the As list, and click OK.

 

 

 

10.

Resize table and place under the words “Part of a File.”

 

 

 

11.

Next we will embed an entire file.

 

Go to the Insert menu and click Object.

 

 

 

 

12.

Select Create from File, select Browse.

 

 

 

13.

Locate Excel Worksheet.

 

 

 

14.

Check the Display as Icon box, select change icon.

 

 

 

 

15.

Select any icon and click OK.

 

 

 

16.

Select OK.
