SECTION 2
Lesson 2.4: The Accessories Menu

The Accessibilities sub-menu provides you with tools which are intended for users with vision, hearing, or mobility impairments. As well, some features can be used by anyone to help out with daily tasks (like the magnifier). You also have the option to run the Accessibility Wizard to help you choose what setting is best for you. This is the first available option under the Accessibilities sub-menu; let’s take a look at the rest of the options.

Accessibility Wizard

Helps you configure Windows for your vision, hearing, and mobility needs.

Magnifier

A display utility that makes the screen more readable for users who have impaired vision. A separate window at the top of your screen will magnify the section that your mouse is over.

Narrator

A text-to-speech program that helps people with impaired vision. The narrator reads what is displayed on your screen: the contents of the active window, menu options, or the text you have typed. (This option is only available in English.)

On-Screen keyboard

Displays a virtual keyboard on the screen allowing a minimum level of functionality for mobility-impaired users.

Utility Manager

A program used to manage your accessibility programs.
