SECTION 4
Lesson 4.2: Managing Video

Most modern digital cameras or camcorders can record video and support UPnP features which Windows XP will utilize. Just like importing pictures from your digital camera, importing video is just as easy. The Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard will still be used and most of the steps are same also. This means when you plug your camera or camcorder into the computer and turn it on, Windows XP will automatically detect it and display the following window.

This window should appear next where you are prompted to continue by clicking on the Next button. To continue, click Next.

The above window shows the available pictures and/or videos on your digital camera, and allows you to select your desired pictures or videos you want to import. You may also make slight modifications to a photo in this section. When you are done click the Next button to continue.

The next window will prompt you for a group name you are importing from your digital camera. You are also prompted for a location to save your photo(s), with a Browse button available.

Next, a window is shown with the new location of the files and a progress bar for the copying process. When the progress bar reaches 100% the next window will automatically appear.

This Other Options portion of the wizard provides you with helpful questions to point you in the proper direction. At this point, your pictures and/or videos have been copied to the specified folder of your choice and the wizard is now asking you, “What do you want to do?” The three options presented are:

Publish these pictures to a Web site

If this radio button is selected you will be taken through the wizard and prompted to select your desired photos and/or videos and a service provider.

Order prints of these pictures from a photo printing Web site

If this radio button is selected you will be taken through the wizard and prompted to select your desired photos and/or videos and a registered photo printing Web site.

Nothing, I’m finished working with these pictures

If this radio button is selected you will be taken to the next window.

The final window provides you with a summary, including how many items were copied and the location the pictures were saved to. Click the Finish button to complete the Scanner and Camera Wizard. Now your pictures and/or videos are on your computer.
