Lesson 1.2: Advanced Forms Tasks

   

 

 

1.

Open Microsoft Office Word 2003.

Open your saved file Job Survey with Fields.dot file, or open the copy from the Exercise Files folder.

If the form is protected, unprotect it by clicking the Protect icon () on the Forms toolbar.

Also, make sure Field Shading is turned on by toggling the Form Field Shading button () on the Forms toolbar.

Click to select the Hours field.

Click the Form Field Properties button () on the Forms toolbar.

In that dialog, click the Assign Help Text button.

 

 

 

4.

In the Add Help Text window, click the Help Key (F1) tab.

In the Type your own text dialog, type Please type in your total hours per week, not the shift you work.

 

 

 

5.

Click OK twice to return to your document.

 

 

6.

Click to place your cursor at the end of the table.

Type Please add any comments here.

 

 

 

7.

Place your cursor at the beginning of the sentence we just typed.

Click the Insert menu and click Break.

Choose Continuous and click OK.

 

 

 

8.

Click the Tools menu and click Protect Document.

 

 

 

9.

In the Protect Document task pane, check the option in Step 2. From the drop-down menu, click Filling in forms.

 

 

 

10.

Click the Select sections link. In this dialog, uncheck Section 2.

Click OK.

 

 

 

11.

Click the Yes, Start Enforcing Protection Now button.

Leave the password fields blank so a password is not applied, and click OK to the password dialog.

 

 

 

12.

Turn form field shading off using the form field shading () icon on the Forms toolbar. Check protection using the Protect Form icon.

 

 

 

13.

Click in the Comments section and in the Deadlines section and note the differences in the Protect Document task pane.

 

 

14.

Click to select the Hours field and press F1.

 

 

 

15.

Click OK on the help window.

Save your document as Job Survey Complete.dot.

 

 

16.

Close Microsoft Office Word 2003.
