In the past, the common method of inserting scanned files into Word was to scan them into a separate application, save them as picture files, and then insert them as a picture into Word. This is fine if you’re just dealing with photos, but if your original document was text, inserting it as a photo means the text can’t be edited.
So now that you’ve found out about this great new way of getting scanned text right into Word, what do you do with all those documents? Luckily, you can import them into MODI.
To do this, open MODI and click the File menu and click Import.
In this dialog, you can browse to and choose the file that you want to import into MODI as a scanned image. You can literally choose any file type you want, even non-Microsoft documents like .pdf files. (Obviously, results will vary depending on the file type you choose.)
Once you’ve selected your file and clicked Import, the document will appear in MODI:
Now, we can work with it the same way we worked with a scanned image: recognize the text and then send it to Word.
