Lesson 1.4: Customizing Toolbars and Menus

   

 

Toolbars are a key part of using Microsoft Office Word 2003. By now, you’ve probably used at least a few of the toolbars so you have an idea of how they work. A toolbar is a set of icons; each icon has a specific command that is executed when you click the button. In Word, icons are often grouped together to form different sets of toolbars. For example, here’s the Picture Toolbar:

 

 

When you mouse over a toolbar icon, a small description will appear telling you what that icon does. These descriptions are called ScreenTips. Here’s a sample:

 

In this lesson, we’re going to go over toolbar basics, like adding and removing buttons and moving toolbars. We’ll also talk about customizing menus and enabling hidden toolbars.
