Lesson 2.2: Using Bullets and Numbering

   

 

 

Starting an outlined list is the same as starting any other type of bulleted or numbered list: select the list text and apply the style using the bullets and numbers dialog, or select the style and type your text. You can set different levels of the outlined list by pressing Tab. Here’s an example:

 

 

You can go back one level by right-clicking on the bulleted text and clicking Decrease Indent, or clicking the Decrease Indent button () on the formatting toolbar. You can also do the opposite: move the text up one level by right-clicking on the bulleted text and clicking Increase Indent, or clicking the Increase Indent button () on the formatting toolbar.

 

Because the outline command is initiated by pressing Tab, you may see Word automatically format outlined lists for you. When Word does this, it will use the last-used outline scheme.
