You can see what this box looks like by looking at the sample below. (The Headers and Footers section is circled in red.)
The first two options allow you to set a different header and footer for the first page, and/or for odd and even pages. This option can come in handy for documents like books; you may have seen books that have the author listed at the top of the left page and the book title listed at the top of the right page.
If you choose either of these options, text will appear above the header or footer to indicate which type it is:
This text is like the dotted boxes around the header or footer: it’s only there as an indicator and will not be there when you view your document in print preview, or when you print it out.
The next set of options in the Page Setup dialog box lets you choose how far in the header and the footer are in from the edge. You can either type in the white text boxes or use the up and down arrows in each box to modify the size. You can choose any distance from 0 to 22 inches!
