Lesson 2.3: Using Headers and Footers

   

 

 

1.

Open Microsoft Office Word 2003.

Open Case Study Draft 1 from the sample files folder.

 

 

2.

Click to place your cursor in the Table of Contents page.

 

 

3.

Click the Insert menu and click Page Number.

For position, choose Bottom (Footer).
For alignment, choose
Center.

Uncheck Show number on first page.

 

 

Click Format.

 

 

4.

For number style, choose i,ii,iii.

Click Start At. Ensure i is typed in the text box.

 

 

Click OK twice.

 

 

5.

Scroll to the third page (which begins with “After ten years…”) and double-click in the footer there (by the page number). This should open the header and footer view.

 

 

 

6.

Click the Format Page Number button () on the Header and Footer toolbar.

For number style, select 1,2,3.

Click Start At. Ensure 1 is typed in the text box.

Click OK.

 

 

 

7.

Click the Switch between Header and Footer button () in the toolbar to go to the header in Page Three.

Click the Link to Previous button () to turn linking off.

 

 

8.

Click the AutoText menu and click Created By. Edit the name in this field if you would like.

 

 

 

9.

Press Tab twice to move your cursor to the far right of the header.

 

 

10.

Click the Insert menu, choose Picture, and choose From File.

Browse to your sample files folder and click Interview Picture.

Click Insert.

 

 

 

11.

Select the Created By text (including the author’s name) and change the font to Comic Sans MS, size 14, bold effect, light blue colour.

 

 

 

12.

Click the Switch between Header and Footer button () in the Header and Footer toolbar to go back to the footer in Page Three.

Select the page number we have already entered. Change the font to Comic Sans MS, size 20, bold effect.

 

 

13.

Scroll to page five.

Click in the header area.

Select the Created By text and press Delete on your keyboard

 

 

14.

Click to select the interview graphic.

Click the Centre Alignment button on the standard toolbar.

 

 

 

15.

Click the Close button on the Header and Footer toolbar.

 

 

16.

Save your document as Case Study Draft 2.
