SECTION 3
Lesson 3.1: Using Styles

In Microsoft Office Word 3003, a style is a set of properties that can be applied to text. A style can include one or more of the following elements:

-          Font style, size, and effects

-          Alignment

-          Colour

-          Indent

-          Spacing

-          Tabs

-          Borders

-          Bullets and Numbering

Styles are applied per-document and can be stored in templates. So, you can create custom styles in a document without worrying about messing up other documents you have created or that you plan to create.

Styles are an abstract concept, so you may not understand some of the elements in this lesson until we put them into play. That’s OK because we’re going to have lots of practice at the end of the lesson!
