Lesson 3.3: Inserting Pre-Defined Text

   

 

 

One of the features you will probably use most often is AutoText. AutoText is a pre-defined set of text entries that will be inserted with specific commands. For example, if you type “To Wh” Word will prompt you to press Enter if you want the text “To Whom it May Concern.” Here’s an example:

 

 

You can keep typing, of course, or you can press enter to insert the text displayed in the gold bar above your typed text.

 

You can also insert AutoText using the AutoText menu. Just click the Insert menu, choose AutoText, pick a category, and then click on any item in the list to insert that text.

 

 

The third way to insert AutoText is to turn on the AutoText toolbar. Then, you can click the All Entries button, choose a category, and click on the text you want to insert.

 

 

These tools can be really useful if you frequently use certain strings of text.
